Why do Groups Donate to Area?

Our 7th Tradition states that every NA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions. We do not accept money from outside businesses, people, or causes; only from ourselves. Group contributions help support many things that include but not limited to:

  • The addict support hotline
  • Outreach committees like Public Information (PI) who visit schools and other public events and institutions
  • NA pamphlets and meeting lists for meetings held in Hospitals and Institutions where Area volunteers carry the NA message to those who do not have free access to meetings
  • Basic literature for a new group starting up in our Area.

How Do We Contribute

Your group can contribute your donation at the Area Meeting held once a month by sending your General Service Representative (GSR) or other group member with cash or a check. There is a collection table at the meeting and a receipt is provided.

If your group is not able to make the Area Meeting, you can send in a check from your group to our post office box and it will be contributed to the next Area meeting's collection.

Please make your check or money order payable to: Central Mass Area Service Committee of NA

And mail it to:

Seventh Tradition

Every NA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.

By encouraging our group to pay its own way, the Seventh Tradition gives our group the freedom to share its recovery as it sees fit, not obligated to outside contributors. Further, it gives our group the freedom that comes from inner strength, the strength that develops through applying spiritual principles.
